Internal Experience (Clark Construction Group)

Leadership Competency Model

I worked as the Project Manager to develop a competency model, using a participatory approach via focus groups from 150+ employees. I gathered a representative sample of employees, designed a virtual format for data analysis due to COVID-19 restrictions, co-conducted virtual focus group sessions, and co-led phased deployment to broader organization. I also created and managed the schedule and milestone tracking.

Strategic Planning & Facilitation

I design and facilitate strategic planning sessions with department leadership to establish the mission vision, values, and strategic initiatives annually. I am responsible for annual business planning processes, and I facilitate sessions to solicit and incorporate stakeholder feedback to ensure alignment with business objectives. I manage strategic initiatives, establishing KPIs and dashboards to drive accountability. I also manage the department budget ($11M) and track regularly, projecting budgetary spend throughout the year.

Cross-Functional Change Management

I was the Project Manager for developing a tool and change management processes company-wide to create a centralized repository of staffing and employee data. I led a cross-functional team to desired outcomes: Elevate current staffing processes, improve efficiency, decision making, and employee development to ensure a best fit for next project assignment. I also engaged stakeholders, communicated updates to senior leadership, and developed comprehensive training materials.

Performance Management

I designed and developed a comprehensive performance review process for 50+ summer interns. I designed the overall strategy, engaging stakeholders for feedback, which included in-person and written evaluations. I configured the performance review in Workday, and I trained managers and interns on the process to ensure a comprehensive evaluation as conducted on every intern before making full-time hiring decisions.

Organization Design

As a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, I worked with leadership to re-design the HR department to establish support for COVID case management. I created a proposed new structure that aligned with the goals of the department and solicited buy-in from stakeholders prior to implementation.

Instructional Design

To support team engagement efforts, I conducted a needs analysis with multiple teams and designed a team building training that I customized for various aspects of the business. I delivered this interactive, in-person training for 10 different project teams nationwide, with teams ranging from 4 to 50 participants.

I worked with a team as consultants for a project with SPARK Schools in Johannesburg, South Africa, focusing on cultural change. We conducted an action research engagement, gathering data via interviews, feeding the data back to the client, and designing an intervention focusing on transition. We used Appreciative Inquiry and as the guiding framework.

Practicum Project, Mission Collaborative

Worked as a pro bono consultant with Mission Collaborative, LLC, a startup organization in Washington, DC to facilitate a change process for their course programming. I worked collaboratively with my client, using the action research cycle to help navigate an organizational transition. I interviewed members of the Mission Collaborative community, analyzed my findings, and presented the data back to my client system to make educated decisions about their organization and navigate a significant cultural shift within their organization and wider community.
